Conference Coordinator
The 10th annual International Cool Climate Wine Symposium (ICCWS) is taking place at Brock University July 12 – 16, 2020.
The ICCWS covers all aspects of cool climate winemaking, from vine to glass to consumer, and provides delegates with a platform to discuss the latest research, exchange information and network with other wine producers, and to taste some spectacular examples of the wines from the host country.
Based on proposed conference programming, we expect to attract upwards of 600 delegates from cool climate wine regions around the world. These delegates will include the research community, grape growers, wine makers, other industry professionals, wine writers, students, trade personnel and government representatives.
This is a contract position and the coordinator will be based out of Brock University.
Contract Length: January 2019 – August 2020
Job Description
ICCWS Advisory Organizing Committee is looking for an individual who can serve as a Conference Coordinator to work with Brock Conference Services to organize various aspects of the conference and work with the various conference committees to ensure a properly executed event. This role includes the following:
- Coordinate with the Advisory Organizing Committee, various sub-committees, Brock Conference Services, Brock Marketing and Communications and other industry partners to ensure flow of information back and forth between the various groups to ensure tasks are completed
- Take a leadership role on the sponsorship committee to engage potential sponsors and follow up on deliverables for sponsors as outlined for the given sponsorship level
- Work with Brock Conference Services to connect outputs overseen by conference services with conference committees.
- Support conference speakers as required
- Work with conference services and the networking committee to execute a successful conference banquet and networking events
- Maintain accurate financial records with respect to costs covered by government funding and become part of the budget committee
- Complete all necessary government funding reporting
Qualifications
- Past experience with conference planning is required
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently
- Post-secondary education in a related field such as Event Management, or Business Administration
- Strong budget management
- Strong analytical skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills and team player
- Demonstrate initiative, ability to multi-task and detail-oriented
- Computer literacy – working knowledge of all MS Office applications
