Assistant Manager (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

Located in historic Inglewood, we are YYC’s friendliest purveyor of fine wine, craft beer & spirits! We have one of the largest selections of natural wine in Alberta, but have a great appreciation for the classics too! Our “small but mighty” selection of craft beer and spirits has a strong focus on locally produced libations. 

The Assistant Manager will report to the General Manger and will work with the rest of the Bricks Wine Co. team to help provide our customers with an amazing shopping experience.

The successful candidate must possessive the following attributes:

  • Strong social skills with a focus on customer service; active listener, team player, responsible and dependable, motivated, flexible, patient
  • A passion for wine, spirits and beer and a keen knowledge of industry trends
  • Public speaking skills
  • Neat and tidy appearance
  • Ability to multi task and prioritize
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Intermediate wine knowledge (WSET 2 or equivalent minimum)
  • Valid ProServe
  • Previous retail and/or hospitality experience

This role includes:

  • Efficient use of our POS system to ensure accuracy
  • Assisting the General Manager/Buyer with product selection
  • Receiving weekly liquor orders, both in the POS system and physically
  • Filling online orders for daily pick-up/delivery
  • General cleaning and store up-keep
  • Restocking shelves and organizing wine bins
  • Helping with stock rotation and sales initiatives
  • Assisting with and potentially hosting public and/or private wine tastings

Job Type: Full time, including evenings and weekends

The typical schedule for this role is Wednesday to Sunday from 11am – 7pm, Fridays are usually 8:45am – 4:45pm and as with most retail jobs there may some adjustments.

We are open Tuesday – Sunday from 11am to 7pm. Store hours are subject to change.

Some events may be hosted outside of opening hours.

Salary: TBD, based on experience
