Store Manager (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

Market Wines is looking for a leader for their newly opening store at the University District.

We're one of Calgary’s most unique and exciting wine stores. 

We believe in strong teams with motivated and passionate team members and exceptional leaders.

Our product is unique because we source our wines directly from small, family run wineries who focus on organic and sustainable production. Those are our values and we're sticking to them.

In September 2020 we’ll be opening up our second location at the University District and we’re starting our search for that leader.

This is a very diverse roll and includes all aspects of retail management, but quality leadership is our number one priority.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

You love wine and have the qualifications and experience to back it up. We love WSET but if you have other qualifications and experience we’re all ears.

You’ve lead teams of 20 or more people successfully in the past.

You have a boundless energy and aren’t afraid of a little hard work.

You enjoy leading a team and can motivate and engage them.

You can build a business and are comfortable working under pressure.

You’re sales driven and good with numbers (think spreadsheets) I know it's boring but you have to understand them.

We’re looking for someone with at least 5 years’ experience in management and a proven track record in either the restaurant or wine business.

This is not a job for 9-5er's, the hours will be long and difficult, especially in the beginning. Launching a new store is never easy, so if you take this next step make sure you're ready.

You’ll have a lot of responsibly here so if that’s not your thing, then this may not be for you.

You’ll need to be strong on a computer: excel, word, etc. and be comfortable speaking in front of a group about topics such as wine and service.
