We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced full-time, Territory Sales Manager to represent one of Canada’s leading, privately-owned Import Wine agencies. Founded in 1982, Select Wine Merchants pride themselves on representing only the key wineries from each of the top wine producing regions, forming a balanced portfolio of Commercial, Premium & Luxury wines.
This role is responsible for growing our business in North Calgary, Red Deer, Airdrie, Cochrane and Medicine Hat while developing and managing relationships with customers in both the Retail and On-Premise channels. Job Duties:
- Meet and exceed case sales targets
- Build and manage relationships with customers, professional affiliates, key opinion leaders and other industry professionals (wine writers, bloggers, private buyers etc.);
- 80% of your time will be dedicated to growing your business within existing accounts
- Proactively investing 20% of your time to prospecting new accounts and developing new business
- Maintaining an excellent understanding of our products, the competitive landscape and your customer’s business
- Manage retail shelf sets in accordance with company standards
- Execute Trade Marketing programs to drive trial and increase top of mind awareness
- Develop and adhere to a monthly route plan in order to effectively manage all accounts
- Develop sales strategies and tactics based on advice, customer feedback and the market environment;
- Proactively identify and engage in opportunities to grow business, add value and keep our brands top of mind
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications/skill set:
- An excellent relationship builder with a strong business acumen and proven skills in consultative selling, account management and forging lasting client relationships;
- An organized problem solver capable of thinking quickly on your feet and helping customers to define and meet their needs;
- An engaging presenter and energetic people person who can easily adjust the message to match the audience
- A great time manager who can multitask and prioritize in order to deal effectively with multiple buying groups
Requirements:
- Post-secondary degree in applicable field such as business or commerce
- 1 – 3 years sales experience in Beverage Alcohol or Consumer Packaged Goods
- Wine experience and knowledge is essential
- Completion of WSET levels 1 and 2 is considered an asset
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Proficiency in Microsoft suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Valid AB driver’s license and clear driving record. Must be able to travel as necessary to be physically present at events, customer visits and meetings.
- Flexibility to work some evening and weekends
- Current ProServe Certification
- Ability to lift 50 lbs., stand for extended periods of time.
