Tasting Room Supervisor (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

Blue Grouse Winery is a premium, innovative vineyard and winery located in the Cowichan Valley, Vancouver Island, an upcoming grape growing region on the edge of cool-climate viticulture.

We are now accepting applications for a full-time Tasting Room Supervisor. We are looking for a self-motivated individual with a passion for wine, who is outgoing, enjoys meeting new people, is an effective and dynamic communicator, and can deliver excellent customer service and leadership. The ideal candidate has experience with wine sales and some formal wine education (ie WSET). We want you to connect with the guest, have engaging conversations about our award-winning wines and help them in selecting their purchases and joining our Wine Club.

Key Functions of the position would be:

Business development and traffic strategies

Hire, train and schedule the tasting room staff

Administration

Booking and managing tours

 

Qualifications

Post-Secondary Education in Hospitality Management or Business (Or Equivalent)

1-3 Years previous guest service experience (Winery Experience Preferred)

Exemplary customer service skills

Solid wine knowledge both local and international (WSET Level II an Asset)

Holds a Serving It Right certificate

Understanding of social media platforms, trends and opportunities an asset

Ability to learn, use and teach Point of Sale programs effectively

Excellent organizational, time management, interpersonal & communications skills

Good understanding and ability to use Microsoft Office and other Computer Software Programs

Must be able to lift 40 lb cases of wine - Able to stand for long periods of time & navigate stairs

Professional attitude and a strong work ethic; ability to multi task

Be available and willing to work the required weekends and holidays
