Blue Grouse is seeking a Seasonal Vineyard Operator to join our Team for the 2024 growing season.
Reporting to the Vineyard Supervisor, the Seasonal Vineyard Operator will execute mainly tractor work alongside our Vineyard Teams.
Responsibilities:
Operate Tractors and Equipment: Operate tractors, implements and spray rigs safely and efficiently to perform vineyard tasks including but not limited to bench graft planting, cultivating, spraying, planting cover crops, mowing,cultivating, and harvesting. Perform safety checks and maintenance.
Vineyard Maintenance: Assist in maintaining vineyard infrastructure such as trellises, irrigation systems, and fences. Report any maintenance issues or equipment malfunctions.
Spraying Operations: Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides as directed by Vineyard Supervisor and Lead Vineyard Hand. Adhere to safety and environmental regulations.
Cultural Practices: Execute vine work by hand including shoot positioning, leafing, fruit thinning, and other canopy management.
Safety and Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others. Adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines regarding pesticide handling, machinery operation, and environmental protection.
Qualifications:
Current Applicator or Assistant Applicator Certification
Previous experience operating tractors and agricultural machinery, preferably in a vineyard
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and ability to perform tasks accurately and efficiently.
Abide by safety procedures and regulations related to agricultural work, including pesticide handling and machinery operation.
Physical fitness and stamina to perform tasks that may require lifting, bending, and prolonged periods of outdoor work in all types of weather.
Willingness to work flexible and overtime hours including weekends and holidays during peak seasons such as planting and harvest.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Expected Pay Range: $22-24 / hour.
