We're seeking an Assistant Winemaker for an immediate, full-time position at Flat Rock Cellars, located above the quaint winemaking village of Jordan, Ontario.
Working closely with the Winemaker, you’ll perform all manner of winemaking activities throughout the year, moving into a supervisory role during harvest. Managing cellar operations at an excellent level involves working long hours, along with an impeccable attention to detail and cleanliness. The correct candidate will possess an unrelenting work ethic, and have references to past harvest experience. Ideally we're looking for someone with Canadian and international harvest experience: a track record of dependability and strong teamwork, along a background in oenology and/or applied sciences.
Responsibilities, not limited to:
§ Conduct winery movements under direction of Winemaker
§ Support quality winemaking by doing things the right way
§ Assist in laboratory analysis gathering and observations
§ Supervise crush operations at harvest
§ Help manage inventories, barrel topping, filtration & bottling
§ Lead efforts to maintain & improve cellar hygiene daily
Qualifications are flexible, but the ideal candidate possesses:
§ Degree/Certificate in Oenology/Winemaking.
§ Minimum 3 harvests with quality wineries
§ Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment and able to lift up to 50 pounds.
§ Must be willing to learn/have forklift certification
