On Premise Sales Representative, GTA (Wine Jobs: Sales & Marketing)

Summary

This role will require an individual with strong relationship building skills and a good understanding of the On-Premise, Consignment, and retail environment, their needs, and key customers. Candidates must possess strong wine knowledge, have strong networking skills, and have a passion and flair for developing strong partnerships with luxury accounts and premium customers, using consultative and data-driven selling strategies. WSET or equivalent studies will be essential for selling to key on-premise customers. Knowledge of Ezfocus will be an asset. The role will be instrumental in growing our luxury and spirit brands in the GTA while continuing to represent and sell the full Gallo portfolio as opportunities arise in the territory. This role is an exciting opportunity for an individual / team player with an entrepreneurial spirit who possesses great leadership ability, who is a visionary and can adapt and evolve with today’s fast pace and everchanging on-premise / retail environment. This role requires you to work evening and weekends as direct to consumer events are an important component of this role

This role will cover key independent and buying groups in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

 

Managerial Structure

  • Reports to the Eastern Canada On-Premise Sales Manager with a dotted line to the Ontario Field Sales Manager
  • This position does not have direct reports.

 

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for opening new premium accounts and gaining new points of distribution in your established territory with our key brands
  • Develop positive relationships with customers and prospective customers.
  • Track and record quarterly objectives
  • Conducts sales training for any staff member selling, and handling or in any way distributing Gallo products, to include wine education.
  • Conduct direct to consumer events (this may fall outside the normal working week)
  • Continually demonstrating your wine knowledge in customer and consumer tastings and industry events
  • Develops positive working relationships across the organization.
  • Demonstrates strong personal selling, time management, and public speaking skills.
  • Coordinates activities with the support of the National Account Manager when applicable. These activities include but are not limited to, monthly features, staff tastings, training, displays, luncheons.
  • Controls personal business expenses (meals, transportation, lodging etc.)
  • Must maintain satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Bachelor’s degree plus 1 years of sales experience in the hospitality industry OR
  • College diploma plus 3 years of sales or hospitality experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility. 

Skills

  • Required to speak and communicate in English
  • French fluency will be an asset but not mandatory
  • Valid driver license and clean driving record.
  • Required to lift cases of wine up to 50 lbs.
  • Required to travel by car or plane
  • Required to discern color, taste, and smell of wine as part of wine tasting duties.
  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • Available to work flexible hours and schedules including weekends and holidays.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills including presentation skills.
  • Skilled in calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, circumference, and volume.
  • Skilled in maintaining composure, multi-tasking effectively, and handling normal job stress without close supervision while remaining courteous and professional.
  • Experience analyzing and utilizing board data to identify and create a sales opportunity pipeline (e.g., EZFOCUS).
  • Experience with working independently and as part of a team.
  • Skilled in calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, circumference, and volume.
