Hidden Bench Estate Winery is a premium, artisanal, family-owned winegrower founded in 2003 that produces ProCert certified organic and vegan friendly wines exclusively from our estate vineyards on the Beamsville Bench.  Recognized domestically and internationally for the consistent quality of our award-winning Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Riesling, we craft a full portfolio of low intervention, quality focused, and terroir driven wines with nuanced attention to detail and precision from vineyard to glass.  Named 2023 Canadian Winery of the Year, we are currently recruiting a Territory Sales Representative based in the Greater Toronto Area to augment our team.

After 20 years of going to market through agency representation, we are seeking to hire our first in-house Territory Sales Representative and transition to direct representation in the GTA. This is an ideal career opportunity for the right individual to grow with a premium, domestic winery. The chosen candidate will have an in-depth knowledge and passion for wine, be able to work independently as well as with a high-performance team to consistently grow sales in all channels. They will have demonstrated strong relationship building skills in the on-premise and retail market, have efficient time management and organizational skills, and thrive in a competitive, fast-paced, and ever-changing sales environment.

Position Profile:

  • Maintains, develops, and maximizes existing relationships and product placement to grow sales in all sales channels (On Premise, Retail and LCBO)
  • Actively solicits and builds new relationships to increase sales volume and revenue, prospects and identifies new business opportunities in all channels
  • Understands client needs and preferences and stays up to date on industry trends and changes to tailor sales approaches and solutions.
  • Develops annual account plans and progress reports to maintain an appropriate call pattern and schedule.  Maximizes time in market based on volume and opportunity.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and timely sales information through regular reporting and tracking.
  • Utilizes CRM software to generate, develop, and implement data-driven sales strategies.  Analyzes the effectiveness of sales programs, recommends and implements changes based on KPIs.
  • Organizes and participates in trade marketing events to support the winery and brand, acts as a brand ambassador representing the winery at industry events.
  • Controls personal business expenses (travel, promotional samples, etc.)

Position Requirements:

  • Proven track record of success in a similar role with 2 to 3 years of on-premise or wine trade sales experience.
  • Strong passion for wine and understanding of beverage alcohol industry, ability to effectively communicate specific, in-depth knowledge of premium VQA wines.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills with strong analytical skillset and polished presentation abilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in B2B or direct sales, ability to negotiate and proven track record of closing the deal.
  • Existing client base or established relationships with key decision makers (chefs, owners, principals, wine buyers) in the marketplace.
  • Strong planning, time management, analytical, and organization skills.
  • Self-motivated work ethic with the ability and desire to influence sales outcomes.
  • Elevated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and CRM applications.
  • Positively interacts with all departments to enhance our brand.
  • Smart Serve certified with the ability to lift and carry 40lbs regularly.
  • WSET, CMS, CAPS, or other formal wine training certification a definitive asset.
  • Valid drivers license and personal vehicle.

Compensation for this position will be commensurate with the experience and skillset you bring to the Hidden Bench team, and will consist of a base salary plus expenses, annual bonus, and benefits.
