Cooper’s Hawk Vineyards is an estate winery located in the rapidly growing wine region of Lake Erie North Shore. We are 11 years old and expanding in all areas of our business, including the production and sale of wine. The business is experiencing strong growth due to our exceptional wines and customer centric team of staff. We are focused on making high quality, market friendly wines. The Vineyards are planted in a mixture of red and white vinifera varieties. Farming, wine production and lab are all well-equipped.
We are seeking a full time CELLAR HAND/ASSISTANT WINEMAKER to assist and support the winemaker in the cellar and, occasionally, in the vineyard. The position will be integral to the day-to-day operations of the winery and will perform a wide range of tasks – from processing fruit through fermentation, lab testing, sanitation and cleanliness, to finishing and bottling the wine, as well as occasional vineyard work. Customer interaction could also be part of this role.
The majority of the work will include a variety of manual labour – filling barrels, driving fork-lifts, pumping over, racking, transferring juice or wine from one tank to another, and cleaning tanks, barrels, cellar floors and picking bins, pruning, hand picking and miscellaneous vineyard work.
The role will also be part of the management team, with responsibilities increasing over time.
The ideal candidate will have a good level of fitness and, most importantly, a demonstratable interest in the entire wine making process. You need to be willing and hardworking and not afraid to get dirty or wet – both guaranteed!
Job Requirements:
· Strong commitment to quality with attention to detail
· Candidate must be hands-on, dependable, and self-starting.
· Good problem-solving skills
· Knowledge of safe cellar practices, including safe handling of chemicals
· Teamwork and customer service skills
· Ability to work shift work, including late nights and weekends
· Ability to lift 55 lbs.
Compensation is commensurate with experience. You must be legally able to work in Canada.
