HARVEST WINEMAKER– COOPER’S HAWK VINEYARDS,

HARROW, ONTARIO

Cooper’s Hawk Vineyards is an estate winery located in the wine region of Lake Erie North Shore, situated between Harrow and Kingsville, Ontario.  We are 13 years old and expanding in all areas of our business, including the production and sale of wine.  We are known for our exceptional wines and customer centric experience on our property.  The vineyards are planted in a mixture of red and white vinifera varieties.  The farm, winery and lab are all well-equipped. 

We are seeking a full time Harvest WINEMAKER for the 2023 harvest, starting September 5, 2023 until December 22.  The successful candidate will be integral to the day-to-day operations of the winery and will perform a wide range of tasks. You will report to our head winemaker.

The position will include a variety of work typical at harvest – Operating the press and crusher/destemmer, driving fork-lifts, pumping over and punching down, racking, transferring juice or wine, barrel management and equipment sanitation.  Basic winery lab skills are a must as is concise record keeping and basic spreadsheet skills.    

The ideal candidate will have a good level of fitness and, most importantly, a demonstratable interest and knowledge in the entire wine making process. You need to be willing and hardworking and not afraid to get dirty or wet – both guaranteed!

Job Requirements:

·         Strong commitment to quality with attention to detail

·         Previous harvest experience

·         Licensed forklift driver

·         Candidate must be hands-on, dependable, and self-starting.

·         Good problem-solving skills

·         Basic winery lab skills

·         Knowledge of safe cellar practices, including safe handling of chemicals

·         Ability to lift 55 lbs.

Wage range from $30 to $35 per hour depending on experience.  Accommodation and the use of a vehicle for local transportation are included.
