Colchester Ridge Estate Winery (CREW) is an established winery in Southwestern Ontario. We produce award winning wines each year. CREW has an opening for an experienced vineyard manager/ tractor operator to lead the farm workers and operate the vineyard at our family owned estate winery. CREW is in southwestern Ontario and we a seeking an individual that has viticultural skill and management skills.
This position requires viticultural experience and education in farming operations and vineyard equipment. This individual will be self motivated to maintain high quality grapes for our winery production. They will need scouting experience and high attention to detail and skills in planning and knowledge and experience in the prevention of vineyard diseases and weed control. This candidate will become part of our management team. This is a full-time position which may occasionally include working longer hours and sometimes on Saturdays
Job Requirements
· Formal education and training in viticulture practice.
· 3-5 years’ experience
· Proven ability to develop and lead a vineyard team
· Experienced in the operation and maintenance of all farm equipment.
· Fluent in English language (Both written and spoken)
· Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, work permit or other Canadian immigration status allowing the candidate to be employed in the position.
Responsibilities
· Optimize vineyard yield and quality
· Supervise the foreign workers
· Operate the spray program and appropriate documentation
· Vineyard responsibilities will be, pest and disease control, winter pruning, soil and yield management, vine nutrition and canopy management, frost damage prevention
· Dealing with third party equipment maintenance suppliers.
· Management of landscaping and horticulture of the winery property.
· Assisting the winemaker during crush
The compensation package will be commensurate on knowledge, experience, and education.
