J. Webb Market Wines is located at the Calgary Farmers’ Market. We focus on small, family-run producers of sustainable and organic wines. We are a customer service orientated company focused on the quality of our people. We’ve spent the last 30 years putting together an amazing selection of wines from top producers around the world. We’re not the biggest company out there but we’re growing fast and we offer a positive team-focused environment.
Here’s what you’ll be doing
If you’re trying to figure out if this is a good job for you, here are some things you should know.
- This is not a 9-5 job, we’re looking for a motivated individual who understands that building a strong clientele takes a lot of time and effort
- You’re comfortable talking about specialty wines from all over the world to sophisticated buyers
- You don’t mind getting your hands dirty and pitching in with deliveries as well as working some retail shifts
- You have a flexible schedule so you’re happy to help out when we have events on evenings or weekends
- You already know buyers at the top restaurants in town and can’t wait to introduce them to our amazing line up of wine
Here’s what you need to bring to the table
§ This can’t be your first gig, we’re after someone with at least 3 years’ experience of selling specialty wine
§ You need to have strong wine knowledge so we’re looking for some kind of WSET or ISG Certification
§ You can do more than turn a computer off and on, excel and word skills are needed so you can keep your book up to date
§ You’ll be dropping off a lot of orders so a Valid Driver’s license in good standing is a must
§ Ability to lift up to 30 lbs repeatedly throughout the day- that’s right, we’ll want you in the store and the warehouse from time to time so you need to be able to pull your weight, which means moving boxes of wine (and they’re heavy)
