Flat Rock Cellars is a family owned, 5-level, gravity flow winery.  Our estate vineyard is planted along the beautiful Twenty Mile Bench Appellation in Jordan, Ontario.  We are committed to making premium quality, VQA wines with a focus on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling and Gewurztraminer, as well as traditional method sparkling.  We produce 17,000 cases annually and are looking for the right person to join our dynamic and growing team.

In this role you will be working alongside the winemaker to ensure the day to day operations of maintaining quality are achieved.

This includes, but is not limited to:

·        Day to day winery operations from fruit harvest to preparation for bottling

·        Maintenance and sanitation/hygiene of all tanks and equipment

·        Barrel filling, emptying and cleaning

·        Additions to juice, ferments and wine

·        Racking and transfers

·        Filtration

·        Maintain an organized workspace

·        Assisting in hiring and managing harvest staff

·        Assisting in all grape harvesting requirements (Operating pumps, de-stemmers, presses)

·        Fruit sampling and analysis

·        Fruit receival

·        Pumpovers, punch downs, emptying fermenters

·        Fermentation monitoring

 

Applicant requirements:

 

·        Previous winery production experience

·        Able to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment

·        Strong verbal and written communication skills

·        Adherence to safety and operational procedures

·        Able to work extended hours when required

·        Ability to lift 20kg

·        Must be eligible to work in Canada  

·        Must be comfortable with use of stairs and ladders

 

Not required but asset:

 

·        University or College Degree in Oenology and Viticulture

·        Forklift experience

·        Valid ‘G’ drivers license  

·        Ability to drive a farm tractor

·        Willingness and ability to positively represent Flat Rock Cellars in market facing activities
