Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Financial Analyst is a dedicated team member who will carry out responsibilities for both Cave Spring Partnership and The Vine Agency. The Financial Analyst is key in driving performance and success of the organization through developing and creating performance reporting and by monitoring and analyzing various aspects of each business segment. Reporting includes but not limited to P&L’s, balance sheets, monthly reporting packages, rolling reports, budgets and forecasting, cash flow forecasting and any ad hoc reporting as required. The Financial Analyst will have strong applications skills, specifically Microsoft Excel, and will be responsible for maintaining the back end of the accounting system and have a strong knowledge of 3rd party software applications that are integrated into the accounting system. The Financial Analyst will play a major role in an upcoming system migration that includes planning, data conversion, implementation and on-going maintenance.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Work with Director of Finance to enhance the existing monthly/quarterly reporting package
- Prepare and provide variance analysis to monthly performance reporting
- Maintain and build upon existing reporting as well as design and create new reports
- Develop, produce and monitor benchmarks; produce variance analysis against those benchmarks
- Develop, produce and monitor KPI’s and any ad hoc reports
- Sales reporting, J-10’s, Wine Tax return, Excise return and prepare entries for posting
- Prepare all grant and support program data and calculations as well as statistical surveys - Wine Sector Support Program, Agricorp, Stats Canada, etc.
- Create and manage templates throughout budget and forecasting processes
- Build and organize databases to draw upon for analysis
- Prepare monthly margining and insurance reporting
- Create, maintain and distribute weekly flash revenue reporting
- Sage 300 administrator – user maintenance, create new fiscal year, etc.
- Work with the Senior Accountant on transactional cut offs to ensure reporting is accurate and timely
- System migration lead - planning, data conversion, testing, implementation and maintenance
- Assist with transactional workload and other duties as required
Qualification and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or finance is preferred
- Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
- Ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work with others and independently
- Advanced Excel skills and strong database knowledge
- Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures
- Strong analytical skills
