JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Tasting Room Manager
POSITION TYPE: Full-time, Year-round
BENEFITS: Full
REPORTS TO: General Manager
SALARY RANGE: $48,000 – $52,000 / year plus gratuities
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
To manage all aspects of our on-site sales, including tasting room, wine club and consumer loyalty program. This position will also assist in all areas of business administration, including government reports and licencing requirements.
OVERVIEW:
• Develop and maintain strong sales relationships within the Okanagan Valley and BC Interior regions.
• Assist General Manager with administrative tasks such as mailboxes, on-line order processing and government reporting.
• Research and outreach to various promotional organizations as requested.
• Define a membership-based annual Private Club offering and attain membership growth and sales plans.
• Build relationships that create an engaged community of supporters creating increased demand for access to limited production wines through membership and loyalty program.
• Manage and maintain contact databases.
• On-site and off-site event planning as required.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administrative Duties
• Assist the Marketing department to execute and achieve all related team goals.
• Liaise with Bookkeeper and Accountant as required.
• Oversee wholesale and on-line orders.
• Manage inventory and pricing in-house and within BCLDB’s system.
• Traffic e-mails and communications to appropriate team members.
• Oversee general efficient running of the office.
• Any other cross departmental duties that may be required.
Wine Club
• Work closely with the General Manager to define the Wine Club offerings.
• Monitor competitive landscape and market trends locally ensuring the wine club and loyalty program is positioned at the forefront.
• Build Wine Club membership and DTC sales, events and other yearly offerings.
• Build wine sales budgets based on membership growth, yearly shipments and planned sales and event offerings 2 Customer Service and Communication
• Design and execute differentiated membership experiences.
• Assume the role of lead Brand Ambassador for select Wine Club activities and events.
• Be the primary contact for all DTC inquiries – emails, phone calls, on-site guests, and online acquisitions.
• Coach teams to deliver Wine Club experience and maintain loyalty and engagement with club members.
• Communicate goals and develop acquisition tactics to achieve membership growth goals.
• Be an informed resource for consumers regarding winemaking, winegrowing, wine vintages and availability of products, brands, awards and accolades.
Operations and Events
• Execute subscription shipments for each tier based on annual plans.
• Oversee all Wine Club batch processing, custom orders, and liaison with fulfillment company (couriers) and database systems.
• Plan and execute on and off-site events.
• Assist with Tasting Room activities periodically, as required.
• Create and implement a programming and communications calendar for promotions and memberships.
• Develop collateral both digital and hard copy as required and in conjunction with the Marketing team.
• Maintain accurate inventory.
• Report sales and growth monthly and as required.
• Build and maintain a procedure and training manual.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum 3 years progressive experience in wine sales and marketing.
• Computer literacy including MS Excel and cloud-based filing systems.
• Experience in DTC sales or Wine Club management is an asset.
• Experience with Commerce 7 is an asset.
• Additional languages such as Mandarin or French are an asset.
• Proven track record of building and executing membership/loyalty-based sales plans.
• Demonstrated ability to leverage data and information to inform decision making.
• Impeccable verbal and written communication skills in a customer/consumer service role.
• Excellent organizational skills including the ability to set goals, manage projects, and see initiatives through.
• Ability to manage multiple and often conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment, while ensuring delivery of high-quality work and service.
• High levels of integrity, a healthy sense of humour, an ambitious mind and no fear of failure.
