A hidden gem in the heart of BC’s exciting new Thompson Valley wine region, Privato Vineyard and Winery is a family-owned boutique winery dedicated to the production of traditional Burgundian-styled wine.  Handcrafted in small quantities, Privato offers among the best of BC in small lot Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Woodward Cider Co is a rapidly growing craft cider company owned by the three Woodward brothers.

 

Role Purpose:

We are a growing winery and cidery looking for an experienced Assistant Winemaker and Cidermaker to join our team. The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of experience working in a cellar, a passion for winemaking and cidermaking, and a desire to learn and grow with us.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

·  Assist the Winemaker and Cidermaker in all aspects of production, from harvest to bottling

·  Operate and maintain cellar equipment and machinery

·  Perform cellar tasks such as racking, pumping, filtering, and cleaning

·  Monitor and manage fermentation and aging processes

·  Conduct lab analyses to ensure wine and cider quality and consistency

·  Assist in blending and bottling wine and cider

·  Maintain accurate records of all cellar activities

·  Train and supervise part time harvest and bottling staff

·  Ordering supplies and parts

·  Develop, maintain and execute SOPs

 

Key Requisites:

 

·  At least 3 years of experience working in a wine cellar, cidery,    distillery or brewery

·  Ability to confidently operate a forklift

·  Knowledge of winemaking, cidermaking, distilling or brewing principles and techniques

·  Familiarity with cellar equipment and machinery

·  Ability to work long hours during harvest and crush

·  Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

·  Excellent communication and teamwork skills

·  Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

·  Post secondary is preferred however equivalent experience will be considered.

·  Valid Class 5 Drivers license

·  “Wine and cider is fun” so a good character and love of the craft
