A hidden gem in the heart of BC’s exciting new Thompson Valley wine region, Privato is a family-owned winery dedicated to the production of traditional Burgundian and Bordeaux-styled wine. Woodward Cider Co is a rapidly growing craft cider company owned by the 3 Woodward brothers.

Role

We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic individual to join our team as the Sales Manager. The successful candidate will be a leader, a team player, and will be super organized.  You will be responsible for developing and leading all activities related to inside sales including tasting room management, wine and cider club, events, and E-Commerce. You will be responsible for developing sales targets and implementing strategies to grow our wine and cider clubs, E-Commerce, and events.

The candidate must be versatile, flexible, accountable, and have an enthusiastic demeanor. As a member of our small team, you’ll have the opportunity to wear many hats and have a willingness to “pitch in” in a constantly changing environment to ensure we reach our goal of becoming everyone’s favorite family winery and cidery. 

Responsibilities:

 

Teamwork/Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and motivate your team, focusing on team development and satisfaction and a memorable hospitality experience.
  • Create and maintain an inclusive team environment concentrating on continuous improvement, innovation, and satisfaction.
  • Inspire a high level of teamwork and professionalism through personal presence, excellent customer service, and support
  • Mentor, coach, educate, and motivate the team so they can achieve their potential through regular communication and training
  • Foster teamwork, trust, and collaboration
  • Participate in the development of company strategies and goals
  • Participate in training programs as required and provide training as required.
  • Attend events and conferences as required.

Hospitality Management – Tasting Room

  • Ensure that your hospitality team has appropriate training to provide an exemplary tasting room guest experience
  • Oversee the hospitality manager who is responsible for hiring, scheduling, training, tastings, winery tours, wine club growth, and sharing knowledge regarding our product and property.
  • Oversee the management of the wine shop including planning, ordering, and stocking wine accessories and supplies
  • Oversee Inventory management for Wine, Cider, Merch, and Food
  • Set and achieve targets for sales growth
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and highly efficient work environment
  • Work closely with suppliers to provide quality local goods for the wine store with a focus on supporting local
  • Ensure tasting room processes have a smooth workflow, assist the Hospitality Manager in developing new workflows

Wine Club

  • You are the face of our amazing wine club and therefore you will ensure exceptionally professional customer service is provided to all current and future wine club members
  • You are the first point of contact for all members including prompt replies to inquiries and resolution of any issues
  • Growing the membership and setting and achieving targets for wine club growth will be a key performance indicator
  • Train tasting room management and team on best practices to market wine club signups to guests
  • Oversee the management of the wine club database
  • Create and issue newsletters and club emails to members keeping them up to date on current events and club processing
  • Plan and execute all wine club exclusive events and promotions
  • Creating wine club collateral material
  • Executing quarterly wine club shipments including ordering supplies, collecting payments, creating waybills, packaging, shipping, and follow-up
  • Implementing wine club processes as required to ensure smooth workflow

Events

  • Conceptualize, develop, and execute events in our amazing gardens, ensuring exceptional customer experience and future demand for events.
  • Develop corporate events package to help target weekday revenue and actively connect with businesses to fill the calendar
  • Develop a culture of “must attend” events that drive visitation to the premises and effectively market these events to ensure attendance is maximized. 

Experiential Development

  • Develop and elevate the entire visitor experience.  This begins before the guest arrives at the winery and after they leave through phone calls, thank you emails, etc.
  • Elevate our portfolio of guest experience options.  Create experiences in a variety of price points, themes, spaces
  • Tasting Room and lounge development.  Work closely with the design team on layouts, décor purchasing, etc.

E-Commerce

  • Maintaining the online web store and facilitating online shipping
  • Develop and implement a promotional program to grow E-Commerce sales
  • Setup and email marketing strategy to utilize our email list to its full potential

Marketing

  • Develop an email marketing schedule
  • Create email newsletters in Wine Direct/Mail Chimp
  • Coordinate with marketing and social media team on strategies to drive traffic to the winery and events
  • Provide content to social media team
  • Assist with tradeshows, events, and festivals
  • Setup and email marketing strategy to utilize our email list to its full potential

Administration

  • Design and develop hospitality budget and strategies for implementation
  • Develop financial and sales reports in a presentable and timely manner
  • Executing inventory counts and managing onsite inventory levels of all products
  • Ensure tasting room labour budgets are adhered to.
  • Ensure compliance with all governing authorities including the Liquor & Cannabis Regulation Branch, Interior Health, Workplace BC

Who We Are Looking For

  • First and foremost, you must have an amazing attitude.  We work hard but we have fun along the way.  We are looking for someone to bring a creative approach, have a great time, and be willing to go above and beyond
  • You have 3 or more years of proven experience within the restaurant, wine, and hospitality or sales sector.  You have a passion for working with the public and are passionate about creating and delivering exceptional guest experiences
  • You have 3 or more years of experience managing a great team and fostering an environment of teamwork, respect, and results
  • University Diploma or Degree in Hospitality, Tourism, or other sectors relevant to the hospitality sector is a definite asset
  • Your past colleagues would describe you as self-motivated, detailed, reliable, and fun to be around
  • You have outstanding professional verbal and written communication skills
  • You pride yourself on maintaining clean and organized data and can competently use the tools provided. You have excellent core computer skills (MS Office Suite) and basic graphic design
  • Ability to quickly master new e-commerce tools, or solid competency using industry standards (WineDirect), Mailchimp, Tock Reservation
  • Project a polished and professional outward image in both dress and manners and impress upon the team the importance of the same
  • Comfortable presenting in front of large groups
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays and events on and off-site.
  • Serving It Right Certificate required.  Formal wine training and Food Safe Certificate would be an asset
  • Able to safely lift 23 kg / 50 pounds
  • 19+ years of age & a valid BC Driver’s License
