Handcrafted in small quantities, Privato offers among the best of BC in small lot Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Woodward Cider Co is a rapidly growing craft cider company owned by the three Woodward brothers.
Role:
We are seeking an energetic and qualified manager to hold the responsibility for our tasting room, events, and wine club. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving sales and increasing our wine club membership through effective management of the Tasting Room team, development, planning and coordination of events and engaging with customers to create a memorable experience.
The ideal candidate will be versatile, flexible and have an enthusiastic and fun demeanor with staff and clients across all sales channels and have the willingness to assist with any tasks in a constantly changing environment.
Key Accountabilities:
§ Manage and lead Tasting Room staff (up to 10 per season), including hiring, training, scheduling and providing ongoing coaching and development of team members to achieve key performance indicators
§ Develop an amazing culture by encouraging staff to operate according to Privato’s values of professionalism, accountability, initiative, hospitality, customer service, teamwork and most of all having fun
§ Manage our wine and cider clubs and develop and execute strategies and budgets to increase and retain wine club membership and overall sales, including promotions and events for the members. Ensure members are provided a peak experience at all touchpoints
§ Conceptualize, develop and coordinate all Tasting Room events, including wine club quarterly events, music events, tastings, food and wine pairings and private events
§ Foster a culture of excellent customer service and maintain high standards for the Tasting Room’s appearance and cleanliness
§ Act as an ambassador for the winery and cidery, building relationships with customers and representing the brands in a professional and positive manner
§ Collaborate with the Winemaker, Sales and Marketing team to ensure Tasting Room offerings align with the winery’s overall brand and strategy
§ Manage Tasting Room inventory, including wine, merchandise, and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels and accurate record-keeping
§ Perform outbound sales calls and emails to follow up on guest visits and sales leads
§ Learning and operating Wine Direct POS and e-commerce systems efficiently to enable us to realize the software’s full potential.
§ Fulfillment of online orders.
Working Environment and Schedule:
§ Required to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays as well as some evenings to conduct in-store wine tastings or winery and marketing events such as wine festivals.
§ The work environment is primarily in a tasting room and garden setting where extended time standing is required.
§ Ability to lift 23 kg (50 pounds) throughout the day.
Qualifications:
§ Serving It Right Certified
§ 5 years working in customer service and sales in hospitality management or food and beverage service, or comparable industry.
§ 5 years experience managing a team in a fast pace customer oriented industry
§ Proven track record of driving sales and increasing wine club membership through effective team management, event planning, and customer engagement
§ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relatinships with customers and staff in accordance with corporate values
§ Passionate about offering high levels of customer service; wine service skills are considered an asset.
§ Proficiency in Microsoft Office and point-of-sale systems: experience with Wine Direct is a plus
§ Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, achieve key performance indicators within the team and meet deadlines
§ Meticulous attention to detail
§ Project a polished and professional outward image in both dress and mannerisms
§ Comfortable presenting in front of large groups
§ 19+ years of age & a valid BC Driver’s License
§ Food Safe Certificate is an asset
§ First Aid Certificate is an a sset

Salary is commensurate with experience and will range between $55,000 to 70,000 plus bonuses.
