Metro Liquor - Product Consultant

Metro Liquor owns and operates liquor stores in B.C, with the goal of providing our astute BC drinkers with the cool products that they love. We are seeking a Product Consultant to support the store team in terms of product knowledge and customer service. This is a hands-on position requiring a balance of retail floor activities, some office work and close communication with customers and staff. Metro team members love meeting new people and learning new things. We hire based on our culture. Store location: Kelowna, BC (1 position), Brentwood Bay, BC (1 position)

Start Date: As soon as possible

Work Schedule: Varied shifts five days per week

Compensation: Competitive salary with benefits

What you'll be doing:

  • Support a team culture characterized by cooperation, proactivity, happy employees and a passion for our products and customer service
  • Support staff training in wine, beer, spirits and food and drink pairing 
  • Help pick and sell our products 
  • Meet with liquor agents in the store and out of the store to find new products
  • Greet, remember and delight customers to build loyal clientele
  • Actively listen to our customers and discover what they want
  • Stock shelves and merchandise product
  • Run the Till and process orders
  • Set up and run in-store tastings for our customers
  • Constantly learn about new and everyday liquor
  • Keep our stores looking beautiful
  • Support all Metro policies and comply with BC Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch and government regulations and policies

 

About you:
  • Minimum two years retail experience, ideally in liquor and wine
  • Above average leadership and communication skills
  • Positive, respectful, energetic, “get-it-done-now” attitude
  • Willingness to work weekends and evenings, as required
  • WSET training, Level 3 preferred 
  • Reliable commute to the store location
