Reporting to the Senior Winemaker, we require an extraordinary Assistant Winemakerwho will be responsible for planning, supervising, and coordinating the production of VQA and ICB wines from selected varieties of grapes and imported wines, except you will focus 100% on VQA during harvest. You will be working in a unionized working environment.

What you will have fun doing:

  • Planning and executing VQA winemaking activities in conjunction with the VQA Winemakers, Grape Supply and Grower Relations
  • Assisting with day-to-day ICB winemaking and co-packing as directed by Winemaker ICB
  • Focusing on VQA winemaking during harvest
  • Assisting with harvest planning, as well with orientation and training of teammates creating best in class wine making strategies
  • Alignment with operations, H&S and QC driving continuous improvement, maximizing efficiencies
  • Assisting with new formulations and ICB product development under the direction of Winemaker ICB and/or Marketing/Brand Manager
  • Participating in tastings and sensory panels working to expand on an award-winning program and striving for quality improvements
  • Working with the Planning Department and Bottling Department ensure delivery of wine meets the agreed to production schedule
  • Supporting public relations events; as well as, when required work with sales and marketing, representing the wines at various events including the public and media
  • Participating as a member of the National Oenology team and in industry committees and program management for HACCP, ABS, AEP
  • Maintaining Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental programs as per corporate & regulatory guidelines

What you offer:

  • Minimum B.Sc. or related post-secondary diploma/degree with 3 years related experience
  • Experience gained working in a Unionized environment --a bonus
  • Ability to problem solve and multitask
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are a must
