Communications Manager

Position Summary:
We are currently looking for a Communications Manager to be responsible for developing, writing and distributing BCWI stakeholder and member communications and providing communication support for all marketing, media and advocacy program initiatives. This is a full-time salary position based in Kelowna. The Communications manager will report to the Communications Director working cross functionally with the whole Marketing and Communications team.
Duties and Essential Job Functions:
1. Strategic Industry Communications Planning
• Development, execution and reporting of the annual communications plan
• Coordinate and execute research opportunities and methodology
• Develop and implement strategic communication methods and tools
2. Writing & Editing
• Be an arbiter of best practices in grammar, messaging, writing and style in all written and verbal communications material in line with the BCWI brand guidelines
• Maintain brand continuity throughout all communications
3. Education
• Develop and update current data, statistics and content for the Wine Ambassador education program for existing and new programs
4. Member Relations
• Represent the BCWI at industry stakeholder forums and events
• Respond to industry and member enquiries in a timely and efficient manner
• Communicate relevant information and assets to members and stakeholders
• Identify and create engagement plans for member wineries and potential new member wineries
5. Research & Data
• Work with industry partners to ensure up to date statistics, facts, data for the Wines of British Columbia and stakeholders
6. Familiarization Tour Planning
• Coordinate media familiarization winery tours for wine and travel media
7. Fiscal Budget
• Manage assigned project budgets and maintain accurate documentation
Skills and Qualifications:
• 3-5 years experience in a communications role
• Post-secondary education and career experience in Communications or related field
• Proven experience in writing communications plans, media releases, articles and reports
• Proven experience in implementing and executing an annual communications plan
• Experience in research and data
• Online program experience, CRM systems (Sales Force), website (WordPress)
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Adobe products
• Strong writing, editing and communication skills
• Ability to manage many high priority tasks in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
• Ability to work as a team player in a small office environment
• Ability to relate to all levels of government and industry
• Wine industry-related communications experience an asset
