The British Columbia Wine Institute is the lead trade organization for the British Columbia Wine Industry. We are a member-based organization responsible for the marketing and promotion of the Wines of British Columbia brand. We are currently accepting applications for an Events Manager to join our team. Reporting directly to the Marketing Director, you will be primarily responsible for coordinating and executing events for the British Columbia Wine Institute and be required to provide event support to other Wines of British Columbia initiatives. The position is an integral part of a small focused team. The ability to manage a large work load and conflicting deadlines, strong time management, and a high level of attention to detail will assure success in this role.

 

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

·         planning and execution of BCWI trade events

·         planning and execution of BCWI member events

·         planning and execution of BCWI consumer events

·         collating information and executing event materials such as booklets, signage etc.

·         website maintenance, as relates to BCWI events

·         monitoring and reporting effectiveness of events

·         event budget management

·         event support to the Marketing/Communications team as required

 

Skills and qualifications

·         5 years’ experience in an events position

·         post secondary degree in events planning and/or marketing desirable

·         wine industry-specific event planning and/or marketing experience an asset

·         strong written and verbal communication skills

·         ability to relate to all levels of stakeholders

·         very detail oriented

·         good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, and Adobe products

·         online email automation software experience an asset

·         self‐motivated and able to manage own time and priorities with limited supervision

·         travel at the expense of the British Columbia Wine Institute required from time to time

·         this position requires the incumbent to be able to lift and/or move large and/or heavy items
