The Azhadi Group develops and operates a selection of wineries and vineyards throughout the Okanagan Valley.

The Role

The Laboratory Technician/Cellar Hand will work under the guidance of our Group Winemaker and assist in all duties involved in the winemaking process. Key responsibilities:

·         Sampling juices, fermenting musts and wines for laboratory, and tasting

·         Performs all routine analyses on grapes, fermenting musts and wines during harvest, bottling and storage

·         Types of analysis includes free and total SO2, TA, pH, VA

·         Performs bench trials for blending, fining, and additions

·         Performs daily monitoring of fermentations and daily brix checks

·         Performs tasks related to harvest additions and inoculations

·         Utilizes pumps and hoses following standard cellar practices as it relates to additions

·         Performs routine analyses to ensure wine meets legal and quality requirements

·         Maintains clear, concise, and accessible records of all data for juices, wines, and microbiological work as well as a clean and organized workspace

·         Performs all harvest related duties, including but not limited to: cleaning, sorting, pressing, shoveling, and cleaning


Preferred education and experience:

•       Minimum B.Sc. or related post-secondary diploma/degree, preferred

•       Strong written and verbal communication skills



•       Must have prior experience working in a professional laboratory environment

•       Understands standards relating to the wine industry and the ability to communicate deviations

•       Able to work safely in busy production environment around equipment and additions

•       Good attention to detail and quality

•       Must be able to work as a team with all winery employees

•       Ability to lift 50 pounds

•       Flexible scheduling. Certain periods of the year require more hours and accordingly, we request a flexible schedule from our people and ability to work longer hours and various shifts and weekends during the harvest season. You can expect fair compensation for your investment.
