OPPORTUNITY

Position: Store Manager

Location: Metro Liquor, Train Station, Kelowna, BC

Metro Liquor Store is currently looking for a highly organized, vibrant, and hands-on Store Manager to manage its Metro Liquor Store at the Train Station location in Kelowna, BC. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the role of the placed candidate will involve successfully managing the day-to-day operations, creating a positive and professional working culture and growing the revenue and profitability of the store.

DUTIES + RESPONSIBILTIES

Duties and responsibilities of the placed candidate include but are not limited to:

· Managing sales growth and margin.

· Managing profitability.

· Ordering stock.

· Back office paperwork such as posting, entering invoices, POS system data entry, running reports, making schedules, managing pricing, and printing price tags.

· Receiving, loading, and unloading.

· Staffing and people management.

· Promotions and advertising.

· Merchandising and store layout and aesthetics.

· Cash and financial management.

· Product portfolio and product management.

· Providing expert guidance on wines, beer, and spirits for staff and customers.

· Inventory control.

· Support of all Metro policies and compliance with Liquor Control and Licensing Branch and government regulations and policies.

· Working closely with the local community to build mutual support.

· Supporting Metro Liquor corporate initiatives.

CRITERIA

Professional Experience and Qualifications

· 2+ years’ experience in a retail store managerial role.

· Proven ability to grow revenue and profitability in a retail store setting.

· Analytical and cerebral. Comfortable with MS Office with strong Excel skills. Understanding of the use of POS systems and administration.

· Solid understanding of P&L statements. Strong financial prowess.

· Experience as a liquor store manager of a store with revenue of $5 million+ in a retail environment.

· Experience in liquor merchandising.

· Excellent communication skills. Agile, open to feedback, and eager to learn and grow.

· Hands-on. Rolls up sleeves and gets involved. Willing to work on “the floor” alongside employees, including loading/unloading product, and other manual labour.

· Mature and professional. Possesses a respectful communication style with excellent people management skills.

· Intelligent. Quick learner. Highly organized with the ability to multitask to get things done in a timely manner.

· Proven leadership skills. Ability to inspire and motivate a team. Gains trust from colleagues. Creates a positive, enjoyable, and professional work culture.

· Customer service leadership. Effectively builds relationships to create a loyal customer base and attract new customers.

· Good sense of humour. Ability to connect and build rapport with individuals from different backgrounds.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree preferred. Wine Spirits Education Trust (WSET) Level 2 or equivalent is considered an asset.
