Territory Manager - BC Interior and North (Wine Jobs: Sales & Marketing)

The Drinks List is a beverage alcohol agency that represents premium Canadian and Import wineries, distilleries, breweries, and cideries.  We currently have an opening for a full-time sales representative based in the Okanagan. 

The ideal candidate is self-motivated and has a strong desire to be successful in all sales channels.  A passion for wine, spirits, beer, and cider is a pre-requisite.  Sales experience is an asset, and a positive attitude is a must.  You should be familiar with the area for which you are applying.  The territory includes all areas of the BC Interior including the Thompson Valley, Okanagan and Kootenays.  Northern BC is also included but less trips are required to this area as it is mainly covered by phone and email with visits to the Prince George area.

Experience calling on restaurants, LDB stores and private retail accounts will be taken into consideration and at least 1-year experience selling to these customers is preferred. You should be comfortable using technology to keep yourself organized and support your success.  We offer a competitive remuneration package and benefits.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

·      Always represent the company in a professional manner.

·      Generate sales and revenue for the Employer, while minimizing costs to ensure profitability.

·      Developing distribution, display activity, on premise presence, by the glass activity, and other sales and merchandising opportunities in on premise and retail accounts.

·      Generate a self-determined schedule of account visits to cover the entire territory in an efficient manner.

·      Manage schedule to be productive, spending more time in priority accounts and where opportunities are the greatest.

·      When possible, expand territory by adding new accounts.

·      Meet and exceed sales targets.

·      Become an expert on our portfolio so you can educate our customers and their staff on our products.

·      Execute on manager directed programming e.g. distribution drives.

·      Provide complete and accurate summaries of sales activity so that management can monitor progress.

·      Keep management informed on any market changes in your area and offer constructive suggestions on the situation.

·      Maintain relationships and open lines of communication with established and new accounts to be able to take advantage opportunities as they arise.

·      Identify and execute on any distribution and merchandizing opportunities that arise on premise or in retail.

·      Work with supplier representatives or management in the territory to promote sales.

·      Pour at trade and public tastings as required.

·      Provide the orderdesk with complete and accurate customer information when establishing a new account and updates on existing accounts.

·      Retrieve email, voicemail, etc. on a regular basis so that orders, customer inquiries, supplier requests, and management requests are processed and followed up on in a timely fashion.

·      Work with the orderdesk to process orders.

·      Assist the orderdesk by following up with supplier A/R inquires as required.

·      Duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements and Attributes of Successful Candidates

 

·      Have and maintain good understanding of the wine industry and the beverage alcohol industry in general including various customer and channel regulations, market trends and competition.

·      Min 1 year sales experience in the wine and/or beverage alcohol industry.

·      WSET Level 2 or higher preferred.

·      Self-starter and able to independently or in a team.

·      Great negotiator.

·      Computer hardware, software, and social media savvy.

·      Have a fully insured, reliable, and appropriate vehicle and valid driver’s license.

·      Serving it Right or equivalent.

·      Must be able to lift wine boxes of up to 45 pounds.

·      Excellent communication skills.

·      Ability to be proactive, creative, and innovative in a business environment.

·      Have sound judgment and excellent problem-solving skills.

·      Act with integrity.

·       Have a positive attitude.
