Vineyard, Production and Warehouse Supervisor

The Vibrant Vine Winery is a creative and fast-growing winery located on the South East Kelowna Bench, in the Okanagan Valley. We strive to consistently produce award winning wines that provide our valued customers with a fun and delicious experience.  As the Vineyard, Production and Warehouse Supervisor, you will be part of a dynamic team that continually looks for ways to improve our business model. You will demonstrate leadership, professionalism and teamwork in all aspects of your job. Your responsibilities include: 

Vineyard Supervision

·       Cultivation, thinning, pruning, tying, suckering, planting and replanting, irrigating and harvesting

·       Pest, fungicide and herbicide management

·       Irrigation, monitoring and making recommendations related to vineyard and fruit quality

·       Erosion control, trellis Installation, irrigation installation, frost protection, vineyard installation.

·       Provide and acquire proper tools for all jobs; make sure that workers use the necessary equipment; keep areas clean and orderly; comply with county, state and federal regulations

·       Enforce company policy; ensure that every job or task is safe for the employees; supervise to make sure all work is carried out correctly; assist the workers and treat them with respect

·       Must be able to reasonably estimate harvest equipment needed; provide accurate harvest estimates; work within assigned budgets

 

Wine Production Supervision

·       Assist with crop management and organization and coordination of the grape harvest

·       Liaise with the wine makers 

·       Oversee all aspects of the bottling process

·       Register new wines with BCLDB and VQA 

 

Warehouse Supervision

·       Performs warehousing activities including unloading and wine handling, allocation of unloading, storage and warehouse areas and ensure that all equipment and materials are unloaded and delivered to work locations in a timely manner and without damage.  

·       Manage the receipt of all deliveries ensuring that all equipment and material is physically checked.  

·       Manage the warehouse inventory ensuring minimum and maximum thresholds are maintained and that stock variances are checked and reported to the appropriate Manager.  

·       Ensure that freight invoices are reviewed and approved.  

·       Ensure inventory and monthly reports are completed and submitted in a timely manner.  

·       Ensure that correct procedures for the handling and storage of hazardous materials are established and closely monitored.  

·       Ensure that all warehouse records are maintained and well organized.  

·       Manage the control of Company assets and records ensuring their safekeeping.  

 

Reporting directly to the General Manager

·       Answer all queries and provide reports and information as requested

·       Be proactive in communicating problems and solutions 

·       Suggest areas for improvement within your department  

·       Attend weekly management meetings and provide departmental updates

·       Ensure that all work is completed in a competent and professional manner              

 

Job Requirements:

Willingness to do literally any and all functions required to operate the vineyard

  • Understanding of vineyard/farm management practices and procedures 

·       Vineyard and Wine Production proven experience.

·       Formal training in viticulture management are ideal.

·       Experience in Warehousing and Inventory

·       Familiarity with BCLDB rules and regulations

·       Strong computer skills

·       A detail oriented individual, and the ability to work without direct supervision.

·       Understanding of quality standards and health & safety regulations  

·       Strong decision-making skills and a results-driven approach 

·       A strong and proven work ethic 

·       Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills

$22 to $24 per hour
