Vineyard Manager / Viticulturist (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

Full Time

  Tantalus Vineyards (http://www.tantalus.ca)

  Kelowna, British Columbia

Located on a historic property in South East Kelowna, Tantalus Vineyards is highly regarded as one of Canada’s top producers of Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.  Our site is comprised of 75 acres of continuous land, including 3 residences, 10 acres of protected forest area, and over 50 acres under vine. We strive for balance and sustainability rather than forcing outcomes. The vineyard is farmed naturally, and the vines are entirely hand-tended. We are committed to the practice of regenerative farming to produce the best possible grapes in any given season while also enhancing or preserving the biodiversity and health of the ecosystem.  Efforts to this end include an on-site composting system, a year-round no-till cover crop program, and the use of compost teas and other microbial sprays. Sustainability does not just apply to our wine and vineyards; it is important to every aspect of our operation. Employees enjoy a healthy work-life balance in a fun and supportive environment.

As Vineyard Manager, you will be responsible for the operation of our 50-acre estate vineyard and assist in the development (and eventually operation) of satellite vineyards located on nearby properties. • Uphold safe work practices in line with Worksafe BC standards
  • Coordinate with winemaker on harvest and vineyard management activities and timelines
  • Coordinate with management to achieve budget and performance goals
  • Periodic vineyard education sessions for staff, media, and industry professionals as necessary
