About Frind Estate Winery: 

We are suited in the scenic Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, Canada, where we harvest a range of varieties including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Foch, and Regent. Frind Estate Winery has 15 vineyards across the Okanagan Valley, with 400 acres planted, and another 250 acres to be planted.

We are looking for a VINEYARD SUPERVISOR. The Vineyard Supervisor supervises all vineyard hand labour to ensure optimal efficiency and practices on the vineyards. This role involves overseeing various aspects of related work, including but not limited to pruning, pulling brush, tying, shoot positioning, moving wires, leaf removal, cluster thinning, hand hoeing, and harvesting. The Vineyard Supervisor is responsible on-site in the absence of the manager. This position is in Kelowna and West Kelowna with 200 acres established and growing over multiple sites.

Responsibilities:

●        Trains, oversees, motivates, mentors vineyard labour.

●        Oversees all vineyard duties and ensures adherence to best practices, including regularly working in the field.

●        Maintains accurate records of tasks completed by the crew and the time taken for each.

●        Assists in scheduling staff work plans and submits payroll information accurately and on time.

●        Collaborates with Vineyard Manager to control expenses and costs. Makes recommendations on cost and time savings, quality enhancements or safety improvements.

●        Follows safe operating procedures, support safety programs and policies to safeguard personal safety, company property and team members safety.

●        Reports any potential problems with employees, equipment, or other resources to the appropriate personnel.

●        Monitors Vineyard health for disease, deficiencies, and stress, reporting potential problems to the Vineyard Manager.

●        Oversees fertilizer, chemical, and equipment orders and supplies as directed.

●        Supervises the Temporary Foreign Workers and ensures housing is maintained as per the TWFP protocols. 

Skills:

●        Excellent interpersonal, organizational and verbal communication skills.

●        Previous experience operating applicable vineyard tools and related equipment.

●        Strong record keeping, estimating and organizational skills.

●        Ability to communicate on an on-going basis and motivate team to perform to their maximum level of productivity.

Requirements:

●        Minimum 2 years of experience working in a supervisory capacity leading an agricultural crew.

 

●        Valid Class 5 Drivers License is required

●        Basic knowledge of vineyard operations and horticulture

●        Basic Health & Safety knowledge (WCB & WHMIS)

●        Valid Class 3, or Endorsement 20 is an asset

●        Good physical condition and must be able to lift up to 50lbs.

●        Ability to work in all weather conditions.

●        Tractor operation experience is an asset

●        First Aid Certificate course are an asset

●        Spanish language considered an asset 

 

Annual salary expectations: $45,000 - $60,000.
