O’Rourke Family Estates is growing and has an exciting opportunity to join the team as a Vineyard Field Crew Supervisor. 103 acre young vineyard and state of the art winery located at Carrs Landing in beautiful Lake Country, BC. This position will work closely with the vineyard manager and wine making team to assist in growing premium grapes. This permanent full time year round job is perfect for someone looking to build a career in the wine industry.
The successful candidate, under the supervision of the vineyard manager, will manage a 10 person vineyard crew in all pertinent tasks such as shoot thinning, suckering, canopy management, de-leafing & cluster thinning. Responsible for scouting of disease & pest pressures, tractor work, irrigation maintenance & repair and pruning.
Candidate must have a flexible schedule and willing to work weekends. Starting at 40 hours a week with a harvest season schedule of up to and exceeding 60 hours.
Job Requirement:
Viticulture Certificate or vineyard experience an asset
Be physically fit to walk up and down hill
Bend and lift 60 lbs, work crouched and bent over
Work in all weather conditions (rain, heat & cold)
Class 5 driver’s license & provide a clean driver abstract – class 4 an asset– willing to train
First Aid level 1 an asset – willing to train
Valid pesticide applicators license – willing to train
Spanish language skills considered an asset
