We are seeking an Winemaker to join our Gray Monk Estate Winery. The Gray Monk Estate is comprised of 75 acres of lush vineyards overlooking Okanagan Lake, and in addition to premium grapes sourced throughout the Okanagan Valley, the winery produces some of the world's finest wines.
Reporting into the VP Winemaker, as the Gray Monk Winemaker, you are passionate about what you do, and you have the ability to inspire others and think in extraordinary ways…. creating extraordinary experiences and best in class wines!
In addition to managing the day to day operation of the winery, which includes execution of all aspects of winemaking, you will manage, coach and lead staff, as well participate in defining the vision and strategy for the winery, and implementing best in class initiatives.
We are looking for a teammate with:
A passion for making extraordinary wine!
- University Degree in Winemaking/Viticulture or a wine related field
- Five plus year experience in Winemaking/Viticulture
- Strong leadership skills exhibited through relationship building, mentoring and personal development
- Excellent interpersonal skills and thrives in a fast paced, high pressure environment
The teammate will be accountable for:
- Working with viticulture, sales and marketing to continue to improve wine quality, brand innovation and sales performance
o Collaborating with VP Winemaking and team regarding product development and improvement initiatives
o Leading, managing, engaging and inspiring staff
o Capital planning, procurement and equipment commissioning; as well managing and monitoring operating and capital budget
o Participating in tastings and sensory panels and actively work to expand on an award-winning program
o Developing and supporting public relations and marketing initiatives
- Representing Gray Monk Winery at various conferences, association and other related agencies
