Domaine Du Clos Jordanne Harvest Interns (Multiple Positions Available) (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

We are currently recruiting for Le Clos Jordanne -Harvest Cellar Hand (multiple positions) who will be responsible for performing all cellar related activities as part of the winemaking process at vintage, while assisting the winemaker in all winemaking responsibilities related to the making of wines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the winemaker in managing production of wines and ensuring wine quality expectations are met, including all regulatory and compliance requirements are met.
• Crushing and Receiving grapes. You will see medium scale grape receiving and processing, running the crusher/de-stemmer and receiving hopper.
• Pump overs / Punch downs– We maintain a daily cap management sheet, we use a punch downs for the majority of our reds, manual pump over, and automatic punchdown tanks.
• Additions, you will gain experience with multiple types of additions for juice, must, ferments and possibly finished wines.
• Conduct tank updates and winemaking in the wine system related to the above products.
• Ensures a safe work environment & safety orientated culture is maintained and all external and internal safety regulations are meet.
• Cleaning – Cleaning is a huge part of making great wine!! We strive to keep everything as clean as possible always. You will be trained in cleaning various sized tanks, totes, bins, crushing equipment, barrels, and floors.
• Barrel work – You could be involved in barrel maintenance, sulphur, cleaning, rehydrating, filling and storing of red/white barrels. We still manage quite a large barrel room. Could be involved in receiving/ preparing new barrels for production.
• Daily fermentation checks - you will be involved in checking tank temps, barrel ferment checks, red fermenters and bins and reporting to the winemaking team any issues and concerns.
• Communicate relevant information to winemakers and to the cross shift
• Perform inventories, ingredient collection and put away, lift truck inspections, and complete paperwork and update lot codes as required.

• Multi-tasking
• Driver’s license, and own transportation required
• Any lab skills are an asset
• Fluent in English, 2nd language is an asset.
• Forklift license an asset
• Good taste in music is a must.

Working Conditions:

• Rotational work may be required
• Must be able and willing to work overtime as required
• This position may require physical effort which entails lifting and moving up to and including 50lbs
• Able to work at heights (catwalk)
• Some outside work may be required, in all weather
• Noisy conditions at times
