Job Description
Acid League is looking for a Production Assistant to support the production of Acid League’s Wine Proxies. Wine Proxies are layered blends of juices, teas, spices, bitters, and more with all the complexity of great wine, and none of the alcohol. It’s wine, but not.
This role is part-time and will include a combination of day, evening and weekend shifts.
The ideal candidate has prior experience as a cellar-hand or in a culinary setting, although this is not required.
What You Will Be Doing
- Handling unique ingredients, including but not limited to: fresh pressed juices, juice concentrates, vinegars, teas, bitters, spices, functional ingredients ie. preservatives, and more.
- Processing produce (cutting, peeling, pureeing, etc.)
- Hot water extractions (tea leaves, flowers, berries, etc.)
- Following recipe instructions, making additions and taste testing
- Enforcing quality standards and alerting the Production Manager of any quality problems
- Operating basic equipment (brewing kettle, electric liquid transfer pump, etc.)
- Cleaning and sanitizing equipment
- General clean-up of the facility, as it relates to Wine Proxy production
- Assisting the Production Manager on any additional day-to-day tasks as required
You Can Expect To
- Collaborate closely with the Head of Beverage Development, Production Manager, and other Wine Proxy Production Assistants.
- Work independently and carry out tasks with minimal supervision.
- Play an integral role in the rapid growth of both Acid League’s Wine Proxy business as well as the non-alcoholic beverage product category
Requirements
- Must be flexible with scheduling.
- Must be able to lift 40lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Must be comfortable with hands-on, physical work and up to 10 hr shifts at times.
- Must be able to get to/from the production facility (near The Queensway x Dixie Rd).
Not required, but a major plus
-Interest in culinary, wine, and/or food & beverage production.
-Prior work experience in a kitchen, wine or beer cellar, or food manufacturing environment.
-Education in chemistry, food science or brewing is an asset

To keep our workers as safe as possible, we have implemented mandatory temperature checks daily before each shift. Sign-in is mandatory and everyone who does not pass will have to quarantine and provide COVID-19 test results before returning to work.
