Adamo Estate Winery is a dynamic and award-winning winery. Our 18 acre Estate Vineyard, established in 2012, is located on a more northern part of Niagara Escarpment in the hills of Hockley Valley, Ontario, Canada. We are an ultra-premium winery that focuses on making wines with a sense of place from our Estate grown fruit as well as select premium vineyards in the Niagara Peninsula of Ontario, Canada.  Our small batch winemaking program allows us to work with many varietals. Adamo Estate Winery believes in a hands-on approach and minimalist intervention to allow natural expression of the grape from each specific vineyard site.

We are seeking a motivated Vineyard Manager to join our team. 

Requirements for this position include but are not limited to the following;

-          Post-secondary education: diploma or degree in winemaking/viticulture

-          3+ years of previous Vineyard experience in a cool climate growing region

-          Must hold a valid Ontario Pesticide Handling certificate

-          Position is Vineyard focused but the candidate will be expected to assist in all aspects of the cellar as required

-          Ability to communicate with and manage the vineyard workers, and work as part of the team or individually. Proficiency in Spanish an asset

-          Ability to identify pest and diseases and adjust spray program accordingly

-          Pruning, tying, canopy management (shoot thinning, suckering, green harvest, etc.), IPM, scouting, trellis system maintenance, weeding and harvesting, Tractor driving; fertilizer spreading, spraying, mowing, weeding, and blanketing vines for the winter. Plus pulling a trailer, using a front end loader or bucket and snow removal with a snow blower.

-          Strong communication skills, attention to detail and problem solving

-          Experience in monitoring grapes, grape sampling and lab analysis for maturity and harvesting

-          Must have a cooperative attitude and be flexible to changes and work hours

-          Willingness to represent the winery at offsite or online events

-          Must be prepared to work in all types of weather and temperatures in Southern Ontario

-          Must be able to do physical labour and lift 25 KG

-          Forklift/ Tow motor certification or willingness to be certified

-          Valid driver’s license is required

-          Tractor driving experience encouraged

-          Must be eligible to work in Canada

-          Provide reference letters from former employers

The position is year round and the salary for the candidate selected will reflect experience and expertise in the Vineyard Manager role.
