Monte Creek Winery is currently seeking enthusiastic Harvest Cellar Hands for the upcoming 2022 Vintage. We are located in the South Thompson valley, 20 minutes east of Kamloops, BC. Monte Creek Winery has previously brought in approximately 300 tons of grapes each vintage; however, we are expanding and the upcoming season will be the first in our new gravity-fed cellar. Our 1200 acre property contains 75 acres of vineyard in the South Thompson, 40 acres in the Similkameen, and we source additional fruit from premium growers located in the Okanagan and Similkameen valleys. Our team is dedicated to producing quality wines with a focus on innovation and sustainable practices.
Day to Day Activities:
• Receiving and processing grapes including hand sorting, destemming, draining and pressing
• Wine movements and barrel work
• Ferment management (temperature control, inoculations, additions, pump overs and punch downs)
• Operating machinery (presses, destemmers, pressure washer, barrel washer, ozone machine, pumps, heating and cooling systems, etc.)
• Maintaining a high level of cleanliness and sanitation throughout all activities
• Moving barrel racks, fruit bins and other equipment with the fork truck (licence required)
Qualifications:
• Previous winery experience or education
• Ability to multi-task, work independently and with a team, in a fast-paced environment with emphasis on safety, quality, accuracy and timeliness
• Able to lift/move 22 kg, work in small spaces and at heights
• Preference given to those with forklift experience
• Legally able to work in Canada - candidates who are not Canadian citizens/permanent residents must be eligible for Working Holiday visas or other work permits
Other Information:
· Mentorship provided from a passionate and supportive winemaking team
· This is a 10-week contract position beginning in early September with potential for extension
· All work and instruction will be in English
· Some overtime and weekends over the harvest period will be required
· Accommodation is available on-site for a nominal weekly fee
· Discounts given on retail products and at the seasonal restaurant

Competitive compensation begins at $18/h and will reflect experience and education
