Charton Hobbs is the largest privately-owned wine and spirits agency in Canada.  This position is based in the Montreal office and will be responsible for the marketing team and CH national and regional brand portfolios predominately in Quebec with some National liaison responsibilities. The position does not include Sazerac and Moet Hennessy brands but requires strong communication and coordination of plans and activities with those respective marketing teams. This position reports to the Vice President Quebec Region.  We are seeking a qualified candidate that is capable of:

 

Competitive Analysis & Market Intelligence:

·       Supervise or build and review with the marketing team, consistent competitive sets by brand and track activity for general and specialty listings; provide consistent reviews for key brands including market trend updates, competitive activity summaries, and brand performance highlights for supplier reviews; identify overall portfolio and brand opportunities

·       Supervise actual vs. forecast tracking with logistics and adjust Latest Estimates (LE) as necessary with the Quebec VP and Sales Manager based on market and brand performance trends; maintain close regular communication with the regional sales teams.

 

Strategic Brand Planning & Execution:

·     Manage, hire as required, train, and assign the workloads and portfolios for the regional marketing team. 

·     Manage with the marketing team, Quebec VP and Sales Manager the annual brand planning process and presentation formats, forecasting and A&P budgeting for all assigned portfolios; Stay within brand budgets and re-allocate funds as needed to maximize market activity;

·     Work closely with the SAQ through presenting brand plans and marketing objectives that are developed with close collaboration with the brand supplier; Attend SAQ meetings with the Que VP for policy and or specific programs or projects that impact CH or suppliers.

·     Collaborative marketing team development and planning with the supplier for marketing applications, key account presentations, PR, tradeshows, advertising or social media programs, promotional materials, and sales tools.

·     Measure and report on marketing programming effectiveness based on agreed preset objectives

·     Regularly communicate with the marketing teams assigned suppliers as the key point of contact to review issues as required.

·     Work closely with the marketing team, Que VP and SAQ logistics to ensure inventory is available and properly forecasted for sku programming;

·     Work closely with the sales team to assist in achieving targets;

 

Management/Administrative Responsibilities:

·       Maintain accurate, current data using provided systems within the CH information and marketing data systems; create and file brand plans on the CH file system; manage expenses and promotional budgets within company guidelines; provide leadership for the regional marketing staff. 

 

The ideal candidate must be fluently bilingual written and oral, university trained with a Bachelor degree in Marketing or equivalent discipline and a minimum of 4-5 years’ experience of related marketing experience with large wine portfolios with some spirits exposure. Candidates must have completed second level or greater wine/spirits education courses and have a demonstrated passion for the wine and spirits industry.

 

 

Salary commensurate with experience, plus incentive bonus, and group benefits. Business related expenses are also covered. Some travel is required.
