Authentic Wine & Spirits Merchants (AWSM) is a national fine wine & spirits importing, distributing and marketing agency in Canada and is part of the Charton Hobbs Group.  AWSM Quebec is presently seeking a Vice President.  This position requires extensive knowledge and experience from at least 10 years of consumer-packaged goods and/or beverage alcohol sales, marketing, category insights and business intelligence.  This position requires thorough in depth knowledge of the operations of the SAQ.  This candidate will report directly to Duncan Hobbs, President of Charton Hobbs Group.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

•       Working with the AWSM Quebec management team to establish overall Quebec sales and marketing strategy;

•       Develop and execute sales strategies & annual budgets for the province aligning with national and corporate goals of AWSM;

•        Responsible for the hiring, training, development, motivating and coaching of all members of the sales team, marketing and sales support team;

•       Works directly with sales team to ensure strategies and sales targets are met within retail and on-premise channels;

•       Establishes Category Management principles for the retail channel. Oversee and provide support for all major account presentations;

•       Builds relationships directly with our suppliers and the SAQ to ensure we maintain great communication and meet the sales target;

•       Works collaboratively with the marketing team and suppliers on promotions, new product launches and market research, ensuring that we stay within the supplier’s budgets;

•       Establish rigorous commercial planning processes and measurable performance metrics to maximize sales results;

•       Ensure regular and purposeful business reviews are conducted to drive proactive measures to ensure we achieve plans;

 

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

 

•       Bilingual: must be bilingual (French and English) with post-secondary education, MBA, or degree in Business, Finance, Marketing;

•       WSET 2 and 3 is required;

•       Superior written and verbal communication skills. Highly organized, display excellent motivation and leadership abilities with a strong sense of judgement;

•       Requires strong analytical skills & ability to turn analysis into effective strategies & plans;

•       Be positive, energetic and comfortable in an open, dynamic and collaborative company culture;

•       Good understanding and knowledge of trade marketing, category management and commercial finance;

Digital marketing and social media experience is required;

•       Ability to prioritize needs and meet deadlines. Work independently.

•       Proficiency in using Microsoft Office 365 applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) In addition advanced computer skills using pivot tables and other business analytics tools;

 

•       Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt, improvise and overcome issues by maintaining focus and conducting research to attain a high degree of accuracy and success;

•       Ability to travel inside Canada and periodically internationally for business.

•       The successful candidate must possess a bachelor or master’s degree within a business-related field such as Business Administration, Marketing, or Finance and has already worked for a minimum of 10 years in management positions that would demonstrate your potential performance in this important position.  Working knowledge of Italian and/or Spanish would be very desirable;
