At Bench 1775, we are a small company working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that is wine-driven. We produce 5000 cases from our own carefully managed vineyards.

We are currently recruiting for a Winemaker to work at our Bench 1775 winery on the Naramata Bench in beautiful super natural Okanagan Valley BC.  If you're looking for a challenging and rewarding position and the chance to make some of BC's delicious wines, this could be the right job for you.

Responsibilities are for all winemaking duties day to day including:

Harvest planning to manage space requirements.

·      Oak adjunct planning

·      Fermentation monitoring/ tasting

·      Must treatments (additions) for Premium wines.

·      Direct cellar operations (pressing, centrifuge, racks, etc.)

·      MOX treatments as required

·      Monitor and assure wine stage readiness according to agreed calendar.

·      Track tank ullage to promote wine quality and maximize asset use.

·      Schedule and participate in inventory reviews (tasting).

·      blending and finishing of blends in anticipation of the long term and short term bottling schedule.

·      working with the General Manager to plan shipping and blending needs.

-      any other work required to produce finished wines.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

·      Experience or education in Enology or closely related field

·      Preferably three years experience in the ability to produce quality premium wines while maintaining style and cost objectives.

·      Demonstrated ability to work independently or in a team

·      Ability to troubleshoot winery equipment and make minor repairs

·      Detail oriented, with strong passion to continually make improvements in winemaking

·      Ability to think both analytically and subjectively

·      Strong organizational and time management skills

·      Ability to adapt and be flexible within a changing work environment. Willing to work flexible hours when necessary

·      Computer literacy in MS Excel and Word required. Experience with advanced wine tracking systems (such as VINX2) a plus.

·      Strong math skills
