About the position:

This is a full time, permanent position. The Winemaker is responsible for all winemaking duties including driving wine styles, keeping the cellar in order, grape and wine quality checks, bulk wine inventory, ordering supplies, in-house lab testing, and maintaining grower relationships.

Main Responsibilities

Winemaking

-        sensory analysis, blending, finding and fixing faults

-        oversee and participate in all winemaking duties, from harvest to bottling

-        maintenance and cleanliness of cellar

Liaison with vineyard

-        Quality checks

-        Harvest ripeness sampling

-        Brix, pH and other harvest metrics

Order harvest, winemaking ,and packaging supplies

-        Liaison with general manager for purchases of all supplies and equipment

Reporting

-        excise duty and monthly wine inventory

-        maintaining a cellar log book

Regular deliverables, meetings

-        meet with our team leaders to communicate the wine styles

-        monthly bulk inventory reports

-        monthly meetings with General Manager

Schedule

-        flexible schedule when we are not in harvest

-        expected to work a yearly average of 37.5 hours weekly, with the understanding that those hours will increase during harvest and decrease in the winter months

Qualifications

-        at least 5 years in the wine industry

-        forklift capable

-        physically capable of winemaking duties, including but not limited to climbing ladders, lifting up to 50 pounds, and standing for long periods of time
