Muwin Estate Wines and Bulwark Cider is an owner operated winery based in New Ross, Nova Scotia.   Made up of specialists from all walks of life, our team is dedicated to a common unifying goal: authentic, natural, delicious cider and exceptional fruit wines.  We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and creative Winemaker/Cidermaker to lead our team.

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

-With the assistance of a cellar hand, performing daily winemaking/cellar tasks including inoculation, sheet and cartridge filtration, operation of cellar pumps, racking, fining, and sanitation.

-Quality assessment and lab analysis including fining trials, stability testing, free and total SO2, alcohol, TA, pH etc...

-Creating weekly cellar schedules, inventory management, and product ordering

-Working with the Production Manager to ensure production goals are met

-Operating & maintaining cellar equipment and ensuring a safe working environment

-Development of New Products

-Representing the winery at events as needed

 

Required Skills:

-Minimum of 3 years of commercial winemaking experience in a lead position

-Excellent verbal and written communications skills

-Willing to work flexible hours

-Willing to work in all weather conditions

-Willing to work at heights

-Ability to lift and carry 25 kilograms on a regular basis

-Good computer literacy and familiarity with use of spreadsheets

-Excellent command of the English language - both written and oral

 

Useful Additional Skills:

-Experience in Cidermaking

-Experience in Fruit Winemaking

-Experience in Ice Winemaking

-Experience in Fortified Wines

-Experience in Distilling

-Familiarity with DE filtration
