Assistant Winemaker (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

Palatine Hills Estate Winery is looking for an Assistant Winemaker to add to our team!

 

The ideal candidate would be passionate about winemaking, have a minimum of 3-5 vintages under their belt and have experience in all aspects of winemaking from the crush pad to final bottling.  This position would report directly to the Head Winemaker and management team.

 

Job Responsibilities will be varied day to day, in a small winery team environment we all work together to make the highest quality of wine possible, this includes but is not limited to:

 

·         Working with Winemaker and team in every part of the winemaking process from harvest to bottle

·         Cellar management cleaning winemaking equipment, tanks, hoses, pumps, press, barrels etc.

·         Transferring, blending, racking, filtering, barreling filing/emptying

·         Ordering winemaking materials

·         Scheduling shipments, unloading and loading shipments

·         Lab work, Free s02, pH, TA, VA etc.

·         Tank/Barrel additions, Barrel topping/Maintenance

·         Filling/Cleaning Kegs

·         Ongoing Quality Control, sampling, tasting, smelling to ensure wine health

·         Help with set up for small winery events

·         Offsite event help, winemakers dinner, pouring at GW festival etc.

·         General cleaning

 

Qualifications/experience

·         Winemaking or related degree preferred

·         3-5 Vintages of experience

·         Forklift Certification/experience

·         Valid Drivers License

·         Smart Serve

·         Able to lift 50lbs

·         Ability to work independently or as part of a team

·         Good Written and Verbal Communication Skills

·         General knowledge of computers, basic excel

·         Punctuality

·         Attention to det ail

·         The ability to handle multiple tasks at one time

 

This is a full- time permanent position based on approximately 40 hours per week.  This position will require extended hours of work up to 7 days a week during harvest, bottling. May require Weekend and Holiday work.

Hourly Rate of $25-30 per hour
