Who We Are:

The Lipinski family, with 30 years experience in the Niagara wine region, established Big Head Wines in 2011. Starting with 3 barrels of Chenin Blanc, we’ve grown to a 20,000-case production and 42 wines. We’re known for unique grapes, ambient fermentation, and creative techniques like appassimento and carbonic fermentation. Our RAW line focuses on pure fruit expression.

Job Overview:

We’re seeking an Assistant Winemaker for an immediate, full-time role. Reporting to Andrzej Lipinski, you’ll help drive winemaking activities, from harvest to bottling. Expect hands-on involvement in cellar operations and a commitment to maintaining our high standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in daily winery operations.
  • Provide technical support in winemaking.
  • Conduct lab analyses and manage lab resources.
  • Handle grape processing and wine production during harvest.
  • Oversee wine tanks and barrel aging.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the winery.

Qualifications:

  • Degree/certificate in Oenology/Winemaking.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to work in varying conditions and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Knowledge of practical and technical winemaking, including regulations.
  • Forklift Certification required.

Work Schedule & Compensation:

This is a full-time position with flexible scheduling. Compensation includes a competitive salary, benefits after 3 months, and an employee discount. Salary commensurate with experience.
