Chateau des Charmes is located in Niagara on the Lake, Ontario and we were founded in 1978 by Canadian wine industry visionary Paul Bosc Sr. Our family owned and operated winery continues to innovate and all our wines are crafted exclusively from grapes grown on our 270 acres of vineyards using sustainable methods.
We are looking to add a full-time Cellar Hand to our team. Responsibilities would include, but would not be limited to the sanitization of tanks and equipment, transferring/racking tanks, ingredient additions, pump overs/punch downs, monitoring fermentation, operating pumps, filters and crush/press equipment, operating a forklift, stacking, cleaning, filling and topping barrels. Naturally this role will require extended hours during harvest.
The ideal candidate would be a physically fit, self-motivated team player with good communication skills, mechanical knowledge and a passion for wine and quality.
Keys skills would include:
-Knowledge of wine cellar operating procedures and equipment;
-Knowledge of safe cellar practices including confined space, ladders and elevated space procedures;
-The ability to understand and perform basic math;
-Spoken and written English, although knowledge of French and even Spanish would be an additional asset;
-Although not required, forklift certification would be an asset.
Education/Experience:
-Winery production experience required;
-A certificate or diploma in winery/vineyard/winemaking would be our preference.
