We are seeking an Estate Mixologist to join our Wayne Gretzky Estate Winery & Distillery!
The Estate Mixologist creates and executes innovative best in class cocktail recipes, often using unique, house made or historical (and now uncommon) ingredients; combining those to create drinks that contribute to memorable guest experiences. This role provides first level support (including bar server training) to the restaurant management team and may be called upon to act as Manager on Duty in their absence; providing appropriate coaching to part time team members and having responsibility for opening and closing the bar outlets.
We are looking for a teammate with:
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience as a Mixologist
- Post-secondary bartending and mixology education an asset.
- Smart Serve Certification.
- Demonstrated Guest/Customer service excellence focus; including being personable, service minded and efficient; displaying professional body language and appropriate eye contact at all times.
- Strong time management and organizational skills to ensure best in class group/event Whisky Bartender Experiences.
- Experience working with computer based point of sale systems and handling cash.
- Ability to lift 40lbs on a regular basis.
- First Aid certification an asset.
This teammate will be accountable for:
- Providing leadership in the creation and execution of seasonal cocktail recipes (including re-imagining classic cocktails) and suitable pairings designed to both maximize guest engagement at WGE, as well as inspire and educate in-market customers and consumers.
- Assists and collaborates with restaurant management team with duties as they relate to Whisky Bar including:
- Creating, training and monitoring strategies with respect to bar programming.
- Staff training with respect to new product/cocktail releases using best practice guidelines
- Staff scheduling and break schedules
- Supervision & execution of social, corporate groups & events
- Maximizes revenue per guest transaction (including up-selling) at the Estate via a solid understanding of:
- Property wines, spirits, beers / accessories / experiences / Wine Club membership benefits / events
- All Estate Wine Group properties and Andrew Peller Limited Wine Shop locations
- Acts as a "V.I.P" host for tours and experiences at the Estate and in-market; demonstrating exceptional standards of consumer and customer service at all times.
- Works on the development and creation of cocktail experiences for FIT programming
- Responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the Whisky Bar, patio area, store products, tour route, and experience locations both on and off-site at all times.
- Achieves/exceeds assigned Wine Club membership targets at the Estate
- Assists with processing guest sales (via POS system) and seating reservations (via OpenTable)
- Understands and adheres to inventory and cash control procedures (receiving, ordering, promotions, stocking, experience write-offs); participates in monthly inventory process.
- Represents the Wayne Gretzky brand at trade and consumer tastings, with communication and understanding of;
- In-depth product knowledge; production, WGE innovative approach, tasting profiles and usages
- Follows safe work procedures/practices; reports any unsafe working conditions/hazards to assigned Manager on Duty.
