Harvest Cellar Hand & / or Assistant Winemaker (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

Ferox is a brand new winery in the Niagara wine scene! Sitting on 20 acres of mainly bordeaux varietals, we are a boutique family run winery that is dedicated to producing premium wines.

We are currently seeking an experienced cellar hand / or Assistant Winemaker for the Harvest season : early August - mid December 2020. The role could potentially turn into a full time position after Harvest and grow within the company.

Responsibilities:

- carry out all winemaking tasks including processinig, white and red fermentaion, racking and topping, filtration, barrel work, bottling, blending

-machinery operation including bottling, forklift and capable of driving a tractor.

-perform lab analysis

-helping and maintaining a clean workplace environment and reporting saftey concerns and any hazards

-cellar equipment maintenance

-harvest preparation for all cellar equipment (tanks, de-stemmer, pumps hoses etc)

-monitoring wines on a regular basis and report to winemaker 

-ability to work in a good paced and multi tasked work place

- required to understand our premium vineyards and methods used from vine to bottle

-participate at harvest at times to hand pick with the team and evaluate vineyards with winemaker and vineyard manager

-asssit at times in other compnay operations such as tastings, events etc

-able to assist in bottled and bulk inventory and capable of working with excel spreadsheets

 

Qualifications

-very motivated, passionate and punctual

-able to be a team player and lead by example in a highly efficient environment

-able to work longer hours if necessary for example harvest

-vineyard experience and education in winemaking an asset

-able to work in different weather conditions

 

Preferred

-smart serve certification

-forklift licence
