INTRODUCTION:
Hinterbrook Estate Winery is a fast growing, dynamic winery, with a big focus on both our more common NOMAD brand table wine and Higher-end Hinterbrook brand reserve wines. We are looking for a certified sommelier and wine enthusiast who also has access to European wineries to join our team and help the Hinterbrook brand grow to the next level by helping into the European market.
WORK DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
● Sales and customer service (recommend adequate product, execute in-store wine tasting, high-end reserve wine sales, independently setting up retail customer service line, contact local fine dining restaurants, contact European wineries/customers, must able to work early morning)
● Staff supervision and training (create and implement daily schedule, assign tasks to team members to meet tight deadlines, train new staff on products and brands styles)
● Administrative (report to owners directly about weekly and monthly Hinterbrook wine sales, assist in brand and packaging design, participate in establishing both short term and long-term marketing plan, research and analysis of European market)
● Merchandising (advise on new wine release setup, maintain display, shelf stocking)
● General supervisor role (inventory control, opening and closing procedure, maintain and implement policies and procedures, maintain a strong floor presence)
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Languages:
● English, knowledge of French is preferred, third language(s) is a strong asset
Education:
● Secondary (High) school graduation certification, Smart Serve Certification is must, Sommelier certificate is preferred
Work Experience:
● 2 to 3 years of experience in a wine industry, at least 1-year experience in serving reserve wine, previous experience in Europe winery is preferred
● Professional wine tasting, knowledge and culture of various wine regions all over the world, conformity with the production model related with the territory, knowledge of Old-World Wine is a must, with a focus on European styles
● Knowledge of food and wine paring practices is a must
● Familiarity with Ontario liquor laws and exporting sales requirements
● Computer/POS proficiency
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position requires a strong presence on the sales floor. Candidate must be comfortable standing for long periods of time, be comfortable repeatedly lifting cases of wine (up to 20 kg), be comfortable kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders, must be able to work early morning, days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

This is a full time, permanent position, only 1 vacancy available, the compensation will be $25/hour for 30 to 40 hours per week.
