Come grow with us at Two Sisters Vineyards located in the heart of wine country in beautiful Niagara-on-the-lake. Two Sisters Vineyards is an ultra-premium winery with 150 acres of vineyards. The Vineyard Manager is responsible for the performance and operational efficiency off all owned vineyards in the Niagara Peninsula. With a technical and research-driven mindset, the Vineyard Manager will lead the Vineyard team to maximize fruit quality and vineyard health.

 

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about viticulture and understands the requirements of winemaking. In addition, the ideal candidate will have:

§  Minimum 5 years Premium Vineyard Management experience

§  Experience in successfully growing quality fruit, with a thorough understanding in the foundations of growing a healthy, balanced vineyard

§  The ability to manage conflicting priorities and multiple tasks within tight timelines. Someone who is a self-starter and highly organized.

§  Ability to coach and mentor the Vineyard team and establish a culture of continuous improvement towards Best in Class.

§  A degree or diploma in viticulture and oenology

§  Experience with maintenance and operation of farming equipment

§  Valid drivers’ licence and ability to operate a tractor and trailer

§  Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in all weather conditions on uneven terrain

§  Ability to work long hours in peak seasons

§  Must be legally able to work in Canada

§  Experience in managing a crew and staff

§  Experience in vineyard mechanical works (operating & maintenance)

 

As Vineyard Manager, you will be responsible for the operation our 68-acre estate vineyard at the winery as well as our other 82 (estate) acres located on nearby properties. Working closely with our Winemaker and Assistant Winemaker you will be responsible for leading a small but dedicated team of full-time and seasonal workers. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

 

§  Cultivation, thinning, pruning, tying, suckering, canopy management, and planting/replanting

§  Implementation of a comprehensive pest management program

§  Maintenance and acquisition of necessary tools and equipment

§  Coordination with winemaker on harvest and vineyard management activities and timelines

§  Organize with management to achieve budget and performance goals

§  Report and manage on R&D initiatives to enhance vineyard sustainability, performance, and operation

§  Ensures day-to-day tasks are carried out in a timely and efficient manner while maintaining quality standards

§  Supervise and ensure all the vineyard duties are completed in an optimal and timely manner.

§  Consistent scouting in vineyard for disease and quality control.

§  Train and maintain on health and safety policies.

§  Maintenance and Operation of all vineyard equipment’s, implements and vehicles.

§  Maintains detailed pest management, spray, and production records.

§  Responsible for all vineyard tasks including (but not limited to) agrichemical applications, pest and disease control, soil and yield management, vine nutrition, canopy management,

§  Capable and Competent in all farm equipment operations (mowing, spraying, pre-pruning, trimming, mulching and the ability to use truck and equipment trailer).

§  Effectively lead and direct a small vineyard crew involved in manual operations.
