Applications are invited for a full-time Cellar Hand and Vineyard Worker position at the Niagara College Teaching Winery, a 6000 case commerical wine and cider producing facility associated with academic enology and viticulture programs at Niagara College, Canada. This position will commence in May 2019
Reporting directly to the Winemaker, this position involves a wide range of duties for the Teaching Winery/Cidery including diverse fruit processing and cellar operations, packaging, QA/QC processes, and facilities and equipment maintenance and repair, all in compliance with standardized health and safety protocols.
This position will involve a high level of involvement in the teaching vineyard, hop yard, botanical garden and orchard, including manual and machine work outdoors.
The position will occasionally involve a public speaking role, providing tours and tastings onsite and at industry events.
Required Qualifications:
· A post-secondary diploma or degree in oenology and viticulture (or equivalent) or distilling
· Minimum 1 year of work experience in a related field
· Excellent knowledge of the wine/cider production processes and a strong motivation to learn more
· Developed sensory skills
· Record of strong working relationships with peers and co-workers
· Ability to work in a diverse and inclusive environment
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Strong organizational, problem solving and analytical skills
· Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs safely and comfortably
