Harvest Cellar Hand Job Posting

Rockway Vineyards is an award-winning craft winery nestled in the Twenty Mile Bench Sub Appellation of the Niagara Peninsula.  In addition to the winery, other amenities include a casual bistro style restaurant, banquet facility and 18-hole Championship golf course. 

 

We are currently seeking a wine passionate individual to join our team for the 2019 harvest.  The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with our winemaker, offering them thorough exposure into all aspects of our vineyard and winemaking practices.  Start date will be early September and end date will be determined based on later ripening varieties and tasks at hand. 

 

 

Requirements include but not limited to:

 

-Some vineyard labour if needed

-Pre-harvest field sampling

-Lab Analysis of juice and wine (brix, pH, TA, VA, Free SO2)

-Processing of fruit (crushing, pressing and additions to juice)

-Processing of juice (settling, racking, inoculations)

-Fermentation management (brix/temp monitoring, nutrient additions, pump overs, etc.)

-Post fermentation additions, pressing and barrel work

-Be punctual and willing to work long hours including evenings and weekend

-Be focused and have attention to detail

-Carry a positive attitude towards work and others

-Adhere to health and safety protocols

-Previous cellar wine education/ cellar experience is an asset

-Forklift trained/certified

- Compensation is commensurate with experience
