We are seeking an Assistant Winemaker for a 1-year Maternity Leave position for comprehensive production of high-quality wines. 

This is a wonderful opportunity to work with some of the best vineyard sites in Canada alongside a talented team of devoted wine professionals.  The South Okanagan’s climate and varying soils are ideally suited to Bordeaux varieties and Syrah. Next door, the Similkameen is an emerging viticultural area, which we have identified for its exceptional potential for Riesling and Pinot Gris.

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a technical and leadership position, focused on the day-to-day running of the cellar to ensure all wine quality, quantity and cost goals are being met under the direction of our Winemaker.  As the Assistant Winemaker, you will work in partnership with the entire cellar team offering mentorship and guidance.

 Technical Cellar Work          

•    Responsible for quality control at all stages of production

•    Accountable for record keeping in Vintrace

•    Oversight of wine making from grape to bottle

•    Record keeping for all wine additions, wine movements, bottling and inventory

·         Managing/preparing for all production related tasks from packaging to input supplies to bottling to inventory.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

•     University/College qualification in winemaking

·         3-5 years winery experience, preferably with some time spent in an Assistant Winemaker or Cellar Master role

·         Proven mentor and supervising abilities

·         Solid organizing, planning and problem-solving abilities

•    Ability to work well within a team environment and collaborate effectively

•    Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
